Shelley McLendon has lived in the northwest for over 25 years. She holds a Master's of Arts in Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Oregon. In addition to private counseling, Shelley has worked with individuals and groups in alcohol/drug recovery, in college counseling centers and in community mental health agencies, and has taught courses in counseling and psychology as an adjunct university instructor.
Shelley understands that seeking the help of a counselor takes courage. With over 17 years of counseling experience, Shelley views counseling as a partnership between the client and the counselor where both collaborate to identify what the client wants, what helps the client achieve that, and what blocks them from achieving it. Both work together to uncover patterns of thinking and behavior, and evaluate which patterns the client wants to keep, which patterns the client wants to change, and options for initiating that change. Shelley utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She also knows that you are an individual, and she makes it a priority to keep your unique goals, life circumstances, and your strengths in mind.
